Supernatural Money Tip I know it sounds weird but it’s true. There I was and my daughter who is a huge fan of the popular cult show Supernatural is giving serious financial tips to her friend. I was mildly surprised. (Hey I guess she does listen to dear old dad’s rants. Lol)
It all started with a simple game of Supernatural Monopoly (I said she was a fan). And yes, there is a supernatural monopoly board game. For those of you who are not familiar with Supernatural, it’s a CW TV show about hunting spirits, witches, demons and averting the end of the world. (Learn more here)
Supernatural Money Tip
So like I was saying. Here I am in my room doing some online research while I can hear my son playing his videos games in the living room. I could also hear my daughter (Kiki) and wife explaining to our family friends daughter (Wanda) how to play the game of Supernatural Monopoly. To be honest, I was surprised to hear that Wanda had never played the game.
The interesting part of this story is how things progressed. My daughter’s love for all things Supernatural translated to a love of this Supernatural Monopoly game. Not that the family and I have not played several games of Monopoly together. We have, after all, we own several version of Monopoly.
What surprised me was my daughters underlying understanding of financial concepts. Now I’m not saying she is a financial money making wizard. But playing the game of Monopoly, has without her realizing it, taught her some financial basics. Now it’s not like I haven’t tried to teach her about money concepts over the years. But my heart swelled with pride as I listened to her explain the best financial way to avoid bankruptcy and still earn income.
Supernatural Money Lessons
There I sat grinning from ear to ear as my daughter talked about mortgaging property to cover debts. Insisting Wanda avoid fear and think clearly about money. Sure she was trying to keep the game going, but she was also trying to save Wanda from being taken advantage of by my wife. Yeah, my honey was trying to get Wanda to surrender over property because she owed her money. My daughter came to the rescue with a plan to mortgage property and pay the debt and retain all of her properties.
“Keeping the property means you can still collect rent.” My daughter explained to Wanda. “As long as you have income you can make a comeback. Don’t give up.” She continued to say.
I was really proud of her.
I know it’s just a game but if she can learn to use that kind of thinking and optimism in the real world. I’ve done my job as a dad. Oddly enough, I think I have to thank Supernatural for making a Supernatural Monopoly game version.
